I want to thank whoever invented this site! I recently noticed that my cat has fleas. I went out to target and bought everything under the sun with this company’s name Harts. Items I bought include the fogger, the drops, the caprpet powder, etc. After I saw your site I just gave my kitty a bath under luke warm water (so the fleas can drown) and although he was not very happy, he was purring 5 minutes later when I was brushing him with a comb. I am returning the harts products to target tomorrow. Again thank you for this site! (ONYX thanks you too.)

Today is Monday, August 2005 I applied the 4 in 1 flea drops to my dog on Saturday. For some reason I wanted more info on this product, fortunately my dog seems ok but I have tossed those drops and washed her even though it has been 2 days. I will spread the workd and never use a Hartz product again. I so sorry for all the other victims of these terrible products.

165lbs and killed from a shampoo

Two days ago, August 26, 2005, my cousin called me. She lives right down the road so I walked down there, she had kittens and they just all the sudden got sick, and she had used Hartz flea spray on them. They almost died. She called my husband yesterday and told him about this site she had found and asked if we had gave bruiser a bath anytime before he died and what we used. Well we had and Used HARTZ 2IN1 RID FLEA DOG SHAMPOO EPA reg no 2596-22.

My beloved puppy died on August 19, 2005. Bruiser was born on March 9, 2002. He was a Rottweiler big and healthy, weighing in at over 165 pounds. Active and loved to eat. A neighbors dog got dog lice and since bruiser always played with her I was told by my veterinarian to buy shampoo for fleas and ticks and bathe him with it just as a precaution. I thought nothing of it. (About a year ago I also had two rottweiler puppies, gave them baths also, same shampoo type.) About three days after bathing my dog, a big sore appeared on his head. I thought he was attacked by another animal since we live next to a large field with many, many trees. The sore started loosing hair and worked its way down to the very top of his shoulders, so I shaved him, little did I know the sore took up half of his head and almost completely circled his neck. This doesn?t sound like much but Bruisers neck was over 36″ around. That day bruiser started puking up white foam and just clear fluid. He wouldn?t eat, tried to but just couldn’t. I called my vet and he said that he wouldn?t treat him unless I had $600.00 down. Not having the money and thinking that bruiser would be okay through the night I was going to wait until morning and then borrow the money from my family. I woke up the next morning to my husband asking me to help him clean up a mess, he said bruiser got sick. Bruiser started pooping blood and wouldn?t do anything he acted like he had nerve damage his eyes kept rolling back and he just wasn?t the same. He wouldn?t give my baby kisses wouldn?t give anyone kisses and this is a dog that loves on anyone. I called the vet and he said the only thing he would do was put him down because he was so far gone. I thought that my dog was poisoned by one of my neighbors from the way he was acting. Little did I know that a STUPID SHAMPOO that I had bought at my local walmart killed my beloved dog I had no idea that the shampoo I bought was a pesticide I just thought it would help prevent the lice. Bruiser was my baby for over three and a half years, and now I will never get to pet him love him or talk to him because of a shampoo. Loosing bruiser was one of the hardest things I will ever have to deal with. He will always be with me.
. I had no Idea about this and I wish I would have found out earlier. I would have been able to save my baby. I would have never imagined there would be something like this on the market still. If the manufacturers know what it does why is it still for sale?

i avoided a catastrophe

on saturday evening, august 27, 2005, i put an application of hartz flea and tick control on my ten year old cat. i felt guilty for not getting a refill of medicine from my vet, but thought ‘what the heck…..it’ll be autumn here in a month.’ within two minutes of application, my cat starting running around the yard like the medication was burning him. then he’d stop, twitch, and act like he was in a trance. i immediately got a rag and wiped the excess off his skin, but he continued to act strangely. i re-read the instructions and warnings on the label, which were very vague. i ran inside and got on the company’s website, searching for more information. on google, i found the truth. i read where thousands of people had experienced some of the same symptons with their pets. i called my emergency vet clinic, they told me to wash my cat off several times with a solution of dawn dishwashing liquid and water, making sure i rinsed him off well. then, i would need to watch him through the night and let them know if i observed any more unusual behavior. thankfully, i think i got all the medication off him in time. after spending the night watching him, he’s back to his old self.

the response of hartz does not at all surprise me. they are certainly on the list of worldwide companies that will sacrifice human and animal pain for the almighty dollar. i can’t imagine that a person with any morals or integrity would have the audacity to support their company in a matter like this. at what price does one finally sell their soul for the good of a company that would fire them in a heartbeat. i’m not going to make any rash threats about not shopping where they sell hartz products, but you can be assured that i will find out everything about hartz, their parent company, and any subsidiaries they have, and will boycott those companies.

Hartz flea collar poisoned my baby!!!

My husband and I purchased a Hartz flea collar two months ago. We put it on our 8 year old cat Stella. Now mind you, we followed all of the directions. I went to look on the internet to find out what in the world was going on with her. Come to find this sight, these assholes have been killing people’s pets for quite some time!!!! I mean killing! Seizures, foaming at the mouth! Horrible things. Please do not use any products involving medications without getting it from your vet. My vet said they have had animals DIE in their facility from these products! They recall the products but just continue to relabel their stuff and it gets put right back on the sheves. We need to get this stuff out of our stores. It saddens me that a company that claims to protect animals is poisoning them and does nothing about it!! They won’t pay vet bills. People are trying to put together a class action law suit, but I have not seen anything come of it! Can anyone help or give me some legal advice. I do not want payment. I want the stuff to become non existant to possible buyers. The pictures of the grey cat on the first page of this web page is exactly what I am dealing with now with Stella!. It is just heartbreaking!!!!

I can’t believe I let this happen

My family has always had animals since I can remember and all were PureBred German Shepards, Our first dog Key was a beautiful smart dog and she was always so energetic, then came Devil my sister named her that cause when she was a puppy she would nip at your heels when you walked by, and our third and most wonderfully the cutest most kindest dog I have ever laid my hands on was Nick, He always had that Dopey look in his eye and he would always cuddle with our kittens. It all started when some how our dogs had gotten fleas, so my mom had picked up some Hartz 3 in 1 flea and tick drops for them. the first time it was okay but then when we went to do the second one our dog Devil got sick and could hardly use her back legs, but after awhile she got better. Then our first dog key started to loose feeling in her back legs and it went downhill from there she wouldnt eat, she couldnt walk, she would urinate all over herself we just couldnt believe that in a month our energetic dog would look this way, the day I was suppose to take her to the vet to get put to sleep she died. 6 months later Devil lost the feeling in her legs again we didnt know how it happened…we decided we werent gonna let her suffer as long as we did Key and we took her and put her to sleep also. I could believe it 2 dogs died in less than one year we couldnt figure it out why this was happening to us. These dogs were our family I grew up with them and now there gone. Another 8 months goes by and our dog Nick got fleas again…so mom went and got some more flea medicine for him, The same kind we got the last time…we didnt find out about this happening to Cats and Dogs until 2 weeks after we put the second one on my dog Nick…at the moment right now my dog is sick because of something I failed to look at, im taking him to the vet today…i hope the vet can give him something but if he cant that will be another animal that has falling victim to this crap….but I dont blame it all on me or my family..I blame alot of it on Hartz Company…how can they sell this stuff knowing that it kills thousands of animals every year..why havent they taken this stuff off of the shelf???????? If there is a way to help take this CRAP off the counter so no more animals die or get severly sick please let me know my email is [email protected]….

After moving into a new apartment, my girlfriend and I discovered our small three year old cat had a case of fleas. This being our first cat and our first case of fleas to deal with, we weren’t sure what to do at first. Our local pet store was closed, so we went to Wal-Mart and purchased Hartz products, including the 3 in 1 flea and tick drops. Little did I know this was a big mistake. After bathing her in flea shampoo earlier, when she dried off we applied the drops. At that point I started thinking of treatment options for the home, so I decided to go online.

As luck would have it, I found your site within five minutes of applying the product to my cat. After reading several stories and becoming very concerned (and very angry at myself for allowing this to happen), we promptly washed the drops off the cat and watched her carefully. She seemed to be okay, but we called the vet in the morning and took her in. She is now home with us, luckily safe and sound, and starting treatment with Advantage tomorrow. The vet said he was extremely happy to hear we had washed it off immediately and thanks to that she should be just fine.

My point in writing this is to thank each and everyone of you for contributing to this site and telling your stories. Without reading them, who knows what could have happened to our cat. I’m truly sorry for everybody who’s experienced pain and loss due to this horrible product, and I can’t thank you all enough for having the courage to stand up and tell your stories. You may have saved a small little calico life.
