Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Drops

Hartz Tick Drops… if applied to your pet…

Wash them off your animal IMMEDIATLEY ! Take that product back to walmart and demand your money back.

My Dog got a severe bleeding nose less then 15 mins of applying a 30lb one month dose. My dog is 100lb King Doberman, he went into convulsions, and seemed dissoriented, we rushed him into the shower, used dawn dishsoap on him, and scrubbed him all over. He seems to be doing better now, that stuff is pure poison!

The blood coming out of his nose was very liquidy, almost like it was half blood half water. And very very Red in color. Nothing like this has every happened to my dog before. I’d rather pull ticks off him with tweazers then have him die from poison.

I used the Hartz flea drops on our cats at 4:oo PM on 10-28-12.  Both cat and kitten died 5 hours later.  They started to shake, foam at the mouth, and have sever convulsion.  We took them to the vet immediately, he knew right away what was going on.  Apparently they get 30 pets a month because of Hartz.  I used the products properly.

Puff was an all white cat with green eyes.  She was very pretty.  She loved to chase moths around the house.  Her favorite spot was to either sleep on my mom or this green chair we have.  She was very protective of our family.  When tomcats came around, she’d have a fit.  Same with other dogs that came over.

Tree-Rat is one of three kittens our other cat Minnie had earlier this year.  He was all black, and just a big ball of fluff.  He was extremely playful and kind.  He’d come up and sleep with anyone.  We called him Tree Rat because he had a big fluffy tail like a Tree Rat(Squirrel)  When he’d stretch, his tail would go all the way up his back over his head.

Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Drops for cats

I applied Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Drops on my cat. She had a similar reaction: twitching, drooling and involuntary leg movements. I am amazed that this is on the market. I wrote to Hartz Customer Satisfaction Department. I am requesting a refund and reporting the adverse event. I assume that when I buy things off the shelf in the store that they are safe for use as directed. The FDA manages pet food and medicine. However, this product, and other topical flea treatments, are considered pesticides and are managed by the EPA. I am reporting the event to them as well. http://pesticides.supportportal.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=23008
Follow this link and click ask a question to submit the event. I know I am lucky because my cat bounced back after I bathed her. I think the reaction to this product is much worse if the animal ingests the product after grooming themselves.

Too many to remember

I don’t have a personal story, but I just wanted to say that I am an RVT and have worked in a clinic for 9 years, I have seen neurological, skin and behavior reactions to these cheap flea products, some have resulted in death and some in permanent damage. There have been too many to count, it’s a tragedy that these products are on the market and so easy to buy. Something must be done. This page is a great start.

Flea drops nearly killed my cat~!

I didnt know it would hurt my cat the way it did~

I thought all flea drops were the same, just that larger amounts were in the dog remedies. since I have 7 dogs and 3 cats, I bought the dog remedy flea drops to use. I assumed that it was packaged according to dosing and that if I used a smaller amount on my cats that it would have been safe~

I assumed that since it was safe to use in small amounts on puppies that using a smaller amount would also work on my cats.

Even though it said not to use on cats, I thought that was merely a selling method they used to get more sales individually for both species, since they were killing the same fleas~

my assumption has nearly cost my cat her life and she is still in the hospital now, on intravenous medications combined to antidote her poisoning, prevent dehydration, alleviate the damage to her central nervous system, giving her musdle relaxants and sedation as well as pain remedy as this is an excruciatingly  painful condition caused by the poisons used in manufacturing the flea drops.

Warning should be more specific instead of just saying :”do not use on cats” the warning should include ‘why’ ~ such as :

HAD IT SAID ‘DEADLY’ I never would have used it assuming it to only kill fleas!

“I NOW SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE~ SO THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO MAKE THESE FLEA DROP COMPANIES PRINT A LARGER STRONGER WARNING ON THEIR PRODUCTS.Complying by using microscopic letter that most people can not even read, they need instead to make plainer, stronger warnings or not be allowed to sell such deadly products publicly~”…Ave Hurley,  July 1,2009

Sergents flea drops is killing my cat!

Last night at 9:00pm I put Sergents flea drops on my dog, and 4 cats. Around midnight I heard some “noises” in the hallway and thought it was the cats playing, then at 2:30 am I woke up to heraing the noise again but, then following it I heard something fall down my stairs. I got up and found my cat Kaymin laying at the bottom of the steps having a sezuire. I thought she fell down the stairs while playing and that was what caused the sezuire. I quickly got a pet carrier and put her in so she could not get hurt any further. I spent all night sitting up with her and watching over my other pets. (none of them seemed to be affected). When the rest of the family I started to retace the steps of the night before. and I was shocked that I finally put 2 and 2 toghter! I quickly told my son to do research and he comfirmed my belief about the flea drops. I quickly got her in the bath tub and washed her down 3 times top to bottom! Then I bathed all the other animals just in case. Kaymin is not having sezuires anymore at the moment but she has strange shake and shiver reaction still. She cannot sit or walk right, I think she has brain damage now. I have got her to take water by dropper and fed her some food by hand. (she wanted both) I guess that is good news. But I am still fresh into this and she may still die. I called my  vet and they said I am doing all they would and it is a wait and see time. I am scared I will be putter her down. I hope I do not have to do that, If I have to take care of a brain damaged cat I will. I am just shocked that this is allowed to happen in the first place. This item should be pulled off the market! If anyone can tell me if there is anything else I can do to help my cat please reply!

Another victim

I also bought this product and put it on 2 of 3 chihuahuas……..one is pregnant. They both started panting, drooling, scratching and could not sleep, it seamed as if they were having convulsions. It has been 2 days and doses of meds later and they are still having problems. Their skin is scorched. If anyone needs help to take these people down or you have a lawsuit, I will be more than happy to help. They are still selling this product even after all of the problems and complaints they have had. They really care about our pets don’t they!!! Thank you, you can email me at   [email protected]
