Profendor for cats

My local vet’ used profendor de-wormer for cats on my kitty Squiggy. She was fine and then passed away. I have already spoken to one lawyer regarding this and they denied my case. I loved that little kitty SO much and I still have trouble sleeping without her or having her attack me from nowhere. She was just playing with momma. I have done a little research and please correct me if I am wrong, is Hartz a subsidiary of the Bayer corporation? I am so confused over all this and it may just be the grief. I miss that little girl so much. That vet’ evidently doesn’t do his research before using these medications because I have come across more than a few complaints over this product. Thank you and blessings to all those that are grieving over their furbabies passing due to someone else’s incompetence.

Rottweiler lost all of her hair

Saw this product on the shelf, thought nothing of it, needed flea medication. Brought it home and applied it to my dogs neck, not as the packaging said of course, the packaging said to put it all the way down to the base of her tail, thank goodness I didn’t listen to that, you don’t ever want a dog or cat to be able to inject flea medication. So I applied it how it should be applied, to the back of neck where they can’t reach. This stuff stunk pretty bad, they usually do, but this one was a stronger smell, burnt the nostrils. Watched her and she seemed to be getting very itchy. I knew something was up so I decided to wash it off. Within the week she had no hair left where I applied the poison. I would go in to pet her and every bit of hair I touch came up with him hand. And she didn’t lose any fleas, it didn’t do anything for the fleas. It’s dog poison, not flea poison. So I took her outside, and washed her wish dawn, and that got rid of most of the fleas.

Biggest mistake

On behalf of Jack and Pita this stuff needs to be banned!!

My little furbabies Jack(1.5 year old male) and Pita(10 month old male) were having a slight flea issue. Flea collars didn’t seem to be helping at all, and neither one of them would allow me to bathe them with Dawn dishsoap. Went to the store a couple of days ago and debated between using a flea powder or drops.(Yes this was in the pet aisle at local chain store, will never ever do that again.) Plenty of flea powder stuff everywhere, but I noticed that all of the topical drops were sold out except for this one package of Hartz Ultraguard Pro flea and tick for cats. I just figured everyone else was having issues too and they all went with the drops, so I grabbed the last flea drop package there was.

Applied the drops to both cats on their back of their necks around 10pm, noticed right away the horrible smell of these drops and even I was nauseated from it. Within 5 minutes I noticed both cats were able to get to that spot on their necks with their back paws. Immediately after scratching that spot they would lick their paws. Fear started to kick in then. I tried to rinse out their mouths with water from an eyedropper, which wasn’t very effective.

Jack my black cat then went up unto the windowsill to chill like he usually does. Pita my tuxedo cat suddenly started to get very excitable and within a few minutes was bouncing off the walls. I just chalked it up that the smell was driving him nuts, as I can’t imagine how pungent that smell is to them. It has to be worse than what I could smell, and they can’t geaway from it.

While Pita is bouncing off the walls, Jack comes down from the window and comes up by me. Jack’s eyes were weeping down his face like he was crying. His eyes were half open but his eyes were so dilated all you saw was black. First thought was omg this stuff made him blind. He then let out this very low heartwrenching meow and then my thoughts were OMG I JUST KILLED MY CAT and I started bawling. Scooped up Jack and placed him on my lap and just petted him, he was very limp at that point and did not move. Jack was a feral cat, he’s come a long ways but still does not like sitting on laps, so this just confirmed my fear that he was dying.

After about 5 more minutes, Jack started to perk up somewhat. His eyes weren’t so dilated( I could actually see the iris now). I was then able to gather my composure and then got the instinct to try to wash this crap off of them. I knew neither one of them would allow me to bathe them, so got towels sopping wet. Started off with Jack who was more than willing to let me wipe him down which that in itself is odd because he hates that as much as a bath. While finishing up with Jack, Pita started to run out of energy from bouncing around everywhere. I was then able to get Pita washed down with no problems at that point, he loves that. After I get done with both of them my fears started to kick in again as Jack who is getting better by the minute and Pita both were both licking themselves dry. All I could hope for was I was able to wash enough of that crap off.

All seemed well for the nex hour. Jack seemed to be getting back to normal but a little on the slow side and jumpy from noises. Pita was still excitable at times. He was panting a few times for a minute or two at a time, not sure from the drops or from all of the running around, he had no other symptoms.

Both had an episode of loose stools right around midnight that night about 20 minutes apart. They both slept amazing well that night, I didn’t, I kept waking up to make sure they were alive. Reading reviews after the fact terrified me. I should have read reviews first. Will do so from now on with these kind of products.
Pita did vomit once in the morning. I think coincidentally he just had to hack up a hairball lol. Half food, half hairball and he had further issues with vomitting after that

Now 48 hours later they both seem like their normal selves. They’re both eating and drinking fine. They are both losing fur on their back of the necks where the drops were applied, hopefully that doesn’t get too worse.

Coincidentally they both still have fleas lol.

Reading reviews, my heart breaks for all of you who have lost your furbaby over these drops, I can’t imagine. It was horrifying thinking my cats were dying for just those few minutes that seemed like forever. I was lucky it turned around quickly but it could have went the other way and I could have lost them both.

This stuff needs to banned!! I thought having fleas was torture for the cats but after what they went through with this, this was far more torturous. It’s inhumane!!! Remove this toxic crap from the shelves, no cat or dog should have to go through this.

Our cat is very sick

Hartz Ultra Guard Pro appears to be a very dangerous product. We applied one dose to our 7 year old spayed cat and she immediately lost her appetite and the product is a huge irritant on her neck. It has caused most of the hair there to fall out in clumps and the itching is driving her crazy. Six days on and the product is still causing her loss of appetite and severe itching on her neck. Dangerous!

Harts Ultra Guard

I took my 2 year old cat, Baby, to emergency vet hospital this morning. She was having massive seizers, one after the other, after the other. She was literally bouncing off the walls, and foaming at the mouth. It was truly horrid, and most heartbreaking for me. Baby is on medications and IV’S. The doctor asked me what is my answer to resuscitate if it came to that? Wow, what a teary eyed morning for me—

I put Hartz flea drops on my cat last month. This month, Aug 2017, I put a Hartz Ultra Guard Flea & Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens on her. It was one of my biggest, and costly mistakes. I do not know if Baby will survive from being poisoned.

I am so angry, sad, and sickened that theses companies sell these products that severely injure and cause death in animals.

Hartz Ultra Guard Flea Collar made my dog not eat & made him ill

I put a collar own my 1 year old dog, rather than drops about 3 weeks ago. Suddenly, I noticed everything he used to love to eat, he completely quit eating. Not anything, not dog food, no “people food”, he loves all kinds of fresh fruit, veggies, meats and he would not eat a bite. I got a new puppy a week ago, & they both got ill within a few hours yesterday afternoon. The puppy did not have a collar on but had been playing with my old fur-kid “peanut” & got some of the “stuff” on the collar in his mouth. Within 20 minutes the puppy was throwing up and had diarrhea so badly, and she had been perfectly fine 30 minutes before this. I took the collar off of Peanut last night, and this morning he ate just like he was starving!!! He began eating everything that he usually enjoys. I am so mad at this company Hartz AND YSELF for NOT checking things like this out before using a product. I usually do and for some reason did not do my research this time. I WOULD NEVER USE ANY of Hartz products again, and after seeing HOW MANY CONSUMER REPORTS are up that people had their pets even die, I am relieved that I feel mine will be okay. I am glad that I did decide to remove that horrible collar and will let my Vet take care of flea’s etc now even if it costs more, it’s worth it!!!

I’m concerned

I used Hartz UltraGuard Dual Action and I’m scared that my puppy might die during the process. I didn’t find out until today that this product is dangerous for her and tomorrow I’ll be taking her to the vet. I’m sorry for those who lost their pets. But I’m really concerned about my dog.

Zodiac Spot On

I’ve read the comments and all the horrible events that happened when people put Zodiac on their cats. When reading the instructions before I put it on my dogs, there were numerous warnings of NOT FOR USE ON CATS. I’m not sure why anyone would put this on cats. There are many treatments out there for cats, but it looks like Zodiac isn’t one of them.
