Chemical Burns on my Cat

I put Hartz Flea and Tick Prevention on my cat as directed. He began acting lethargic, and I noticed his mouth was very swollen. I had to take him to an emergency vet because it was a weekend. It turned out he’d managed to get his mouth in the Hartz solution while grooming himself and suffered chemical burns all over his lips. He needed antibiotics and pain meds, I’m short a few hundred dollars for the vet bill, but I’m so relieved and happy that he is still alive after reading others’ stories.

  1. Where was this brand (hartz) manufactured?
Over the years I’ve used Hartz products with no problems…… but I did stop using it a few years back when I found that it wasn’t being made in the USA or Canada!

  2. I also used the Hartz Flea and Tick Prevention collar on my cat as directed, his hair started to fall. I had to take him to an emergency vet. I made a complaint with the BBB and Hartz response was only a refund.

  3. Omg! 2 years ago I had to put my cat down. I woke up and he was twitching, seizing. He had burns on his mouth. The vet thought he might’ve bit a cord or something. He had to be put to sleep. I checked every cord in the house, nothing. For 2 yrs ive wondered what could’ve happened to my baby. I just now read this, I’m crying. I used the hartz flea prevention on him. Omg. This is horrible. They need to quit selling this. Im so upset right now.
