Hartz Victims

I love my animals, dearly; but I can not afford expensive medicines that Vets always recommend. Now I am constantly looking for natural products that really work with ‘No Harm’.  When I moved to the country, almost 3 years ago, I never dreamed there would be so many ticks & mosquitoes. Baby Bear was being ate up. So I went to Wal-Mart to get a quick fix. I thought she would be better off having something to keep these parasites off of her as opposed to nothing. She was an old dog. So I got both Baby Bear & Miss Kiddie the stuff you apply down their back. Miss Kiddie is a very old cat, too. I put it on my dog first, then my cat. The cat immediately puked. I believe this saved her life. She is still here with me now. Baby Bear, with-in an hour was getting sick, no puking, but was getting weak. In the next hour she couldn’t even hold up her head.  I knew it was due to the medicine because of the cat puking immediately after I had put it on her. I  took Baby Bear to the Vet. He gave her an antidote for poison. She seemed to start feeling better, but it wasn’t long till she started going back down hill. Within 2 weeks she passed away. Now I have another dog. Tick season is on us again. I have just had him a few months. Last year I discovered that using Vick’s Vapor rub kept me from getting  mosquito bites  & no ticks, either. I swear by it. I just dampen my skin with a little water, rub a very small amount of Vicks Vapor Rub onto  skin. Works better than anything I have ever used. And it lasted for hours at a time. Hartz should be out of the market. Can’t uderstand how they are being allowed to sell their obviously poison products. This happened to me about 2 years ago. And you know what the scariest part is? Most of the grocery stores around here carry only Hartz products for pet supplies. That is crazy.

  1. If you check online you can find many types of flea and tick preventatives that can be made at home. I almost lost my cat when she was a baby by using Hartz and won’t even look at a Hartz product (or Sargeant’s).

  2. My cat died 2 days ago after I accidentally mixed her tic preventative up with the dog’s. The vet had given me Vectra for the dog, which I now understand is Hartz. I am devastated. My kids are devastated. Very gory details, that no kids should have had to witness. I am looking into joining a class-action lawsuit against this poison. I understand now that many people make this mistake, or smaller pets get sickened and die simply from grooming with or bedding with other household pets that have it on their skin. So sad. Why is this product so toxic? My dog got Lyme’s diesease from a tic bite last summer, so I thought I was doing a good thing to prevent her getting bitten again.

    I killed the cat instead.

    1. Very sorry for the loss of your cat. It is not true that many people put dog meds on cats. That concept came from one of the many reports Hartz gave to the EPA. Currently there are no class actions that I am aware of. I don’t think you would have a legal case because you did put the dog meds on the cat. Again very sorry for your loss.

  3. Try a flea comb every couple of days . You need a bowl of water with soap in it. Dip the comb with fleas in the soapy water and they die.. Simple cheap and very effective

  4. MY CAT DIED FROM HARZ FLEA DROPS. HIS LIVER AND KIDNEYS SHUT DOWN AND HAD INTERNAL BLEEING.
I RUSHED HIM TO THE VETS AND VET SAID BEST THING TO DO IS PUT HIM DOWN.
SAM- 2 1/2 YEARS OLD, ORANGE AND WHITE, HE DID NOT HAVE A CHANCE.
