Hartz tick oil drops!!!!

Hi, My name is Alan,

I’ve had dogs all my life, and started to rescue dogs about 15yrs ago. Pitbull’s to be exact, a very misunderstood breed if you ask me. They are one of the most loving pets I’ve ever seen, and great with children!

I end up getting a puppy that was 4-months old, and saw it had Tapeworms. I used a tick collar which helped. But after a month or so, while giving her a bath, we noticed how dirty it was getting. So we gave her a bath, then applied Hartz oil drops on her back. ALL OF A SUDDEN!!! we noticed her back broke out in HIVES!!!! We did not know what was happening. I consulted my Vet, and was informed it was due to the Hartz Drops!!! I was instructed to use DAWN dish washing soap, to wash it off, and Benadryl. It’s been over a month, and It’s still there!! The Benadryl has helped a bit, and constantly bathing her in cool water.

WHY IS THIS PRODUCT STILL IN THE MARKET!!!!!!??????? I wish we can put together a Class Action Suit!! against Hartz, but don’t know where to start!

Someone Please help!!

  1. What you have described sounds like an allergic reaction. Though not fully Hartz fault since some pets can be allergic and you wouldn’t find out until after using it. Make your pet comfortable until the hives disappear and try to research holistic methods for pet care. I know the big ones like heart worms need the vaccines but you can use other things for the fleas and ticks buy a chrysanthemum oil or another natural oil that works against invertebrates

BEST WISHES and hope your pup gets better swiftly

  2. Sad to say but the Hartz Mountain Corporation has been doing this for over 20 years, yes 20 years! I consider my pets as kids! But no the Hartz Mountain Corp., targets low income families. Please join my FB group. There has been many class action suits, but nothing ever happens or Hartz pays them off, it is the FDA that I think needs to be focused on. If this hurt or killed a real kid, it would be off in a minute. Hope your pup gets better soon. I just use pine oil from the health food store add a couple drops to a 2 quart picture and pour for the final rinse. No fleas in over 2 years.

  3. If it is allergies there is medication your vet could give you. I would keep the pup out of the grass for the time being. Poor baby is probably really itchy. I use the Benadryl spray on my Setter when she gets itchy. You can get it at any drugstore and it seems to help her. Good luck.

    Herbal Remedies for Dog Hives

For hives that are not too serious and with no swelling, herbs can also be used to alleviate the itching.
Oat: Oat is soothing to the skin and also has healing effects. You can use oat in various ways for dog hives. For example, you can apply an oatmeal paste to the affected area(s). To make the oatmeal paste, cook the oatmeal in water until it is like a wet paste. Let it cool and apply it liberally to your dog. Alternatively, give your dog oatmeal baths to help alleviate the itch. Boil about one pound of organic oat straw in 2 quarts of water and add this to your dog’s bathwater.
Yellow Dock: Use a rinse from dried yellow dock. Add one tablespoon of the herb to 2 cups of boiling water. Let it sit and cool down. Strain off the herb and use the liquid as a rinse.
Green Tea: Steep a couple of green tea bags in 2 cups of hot water. Discard the teabags. Let the tea cool down and pour it on your dog. Let it drip dry.
Chamomile: If your dog is itchy and her skin is reddened, use a rinse of chamomile tea. You can make and use the chamomile tea the same way as the green tea rinse above

  5. It just eats me up when someone says its NOT HARTZ it is Hartz and people need to do there home work. This shit can and will kill your pets. Spread the word the best you can,if you see someone in the store buying it or even just looking at STOP THEM tell them what it can do. Go to Hartz Victims.org there are thousands of horror stories, mine included. I’m glad your baby is ok maybe in time the hives will go away

  6. Preventing problems is always cheaper than treating the disaster later. Be suspicious of products and strangers. If your animal is sick, take it to the vet before treating it yourself. You need specific meds from the vet to treat tapeworms, not just some random stuff from the grocery shelf.
