I lost my 8 year old cat today

Sangha Bear was the first pet my wife and I purchased while we were still dating.
She was a gorgeous longhair tortoiseshell who loved to play with straws, bite your toes while you were sleeping, and sleep on the toilet.
10 days ago I applied Hartz Ultraguard flea and tick treatment to her skin. Today, she gave a distressed ‘meow’ from the bathroom. My 4 year old son and I entered the bathroom in time to watch her fall off the toilet limp.
I picked her up and rushed to take her to the emergency vet. As I reached the front door, she looked up at me and drew her final breathe.
I can’t believe a product that could deal so much damage to a member of my family without me knowing until it is too late, is able to stay on the shelves.
Thank you for giving me a place to share Sangha’s story. I love her and she will be missed.

  1. To Sangha’s family and all those who have lost beloved friends due to HARTZ’s products AND negligence. I know how incredibly lucky I am that my baby survived his ordeal. About five years ago I purchased Hartz flea control for cats as I thought the Hartz name has been around my whole life why should I question it? How quickly I would learn I was totally wrong in my security. In less than an hour after putting it on my “Stitch” he started convulsing and panting heavily. Luckily being in the healthcare business I knew right away what was wrong. I had to throw him in a tub and continually rinse him for well over an hour and then hold him in my arms for the rest of the night and the whole next day as there was no way I would rest until I knew he was ok. The vet confirmed my suspicion through bloodwork. The guilt I felt was unreal and contacting Hartz would turn out to be fruitless. I am saddened to learn over the last couple of days Hartz is still misleading the public and killing our innocent furbabies. I can only hope this new passionate movement brings about the change and resolution we all want and DESERVE!!!
