I only wish i knew about this site before I bought the Hartz flea and tick shampoo. A couple days ago I notice my dog was scratching more than usual. Turns out he had gotten some fleas. I washed him in the shampoo and after that he seemed just fine. My pup was a 5 month old rat terroir/ bull dog mix. The next day I notice he was not acting the same, and he wouldn’t eat. Later on I notice he had diarrhea and he started vomiting. I had no clue what to do besides keep him hydrated. Note I’m only 18 and haven’t had much experience with pets on my own. With the way things were going I couldn’t afford to take him to the vet. Today I notice he would wag his tail as I talked to him and I thought he was going to get better. I had him laying next to me under the blankets as I layed down to take a nap. When I woke up my heart was broken. My best friend was gone. I desperately wish someone would of warn me of what the Hartz brand has been doing to so many companions. Never again will I buy any of their products. I hope by posting this, it will save a pets life. R.I.P Peanut<3

I am very sorry to hear about your dog. I appreciate you posting your story and I am sure it will help others know not to purchase this brand. You are young and did not know and there are many people that are old and still did not know. We all do the best we can at the time.

So sorry about your Peanut. I am more than 3 times your age and I had not heard that Hartz was a threat to our wonderful pets until I purchased and used the flea drops. Recently, I used the Hartz flea drops on our 2 cats. Both survived, but it was really hard on them. It made them act crazy, one of them looked at me like he did not know who I was. When I took them to our vet, he told us how terrible the drops are. The Hartz ingredient was not effective, causes much damage to pets but does not kill or repel fleas.

Thank you. Im spreading the word about hartz to all my friends and family so they won’t have to go through the same tragedy I did. It’s jus terrible how they’re still selling the products after all the horrid side effects they cause.

Dear Taylorlynn, I only googled for reviews on the effectiveness of Hartz products in killing/preventing flea and ticks, never in my wildest imagination did I think I would find reviews that the product killed pets. I am so sorry for the loss of your Peanut but am very grateful to you for sharing. I had gotten the drops, not the shampoo, for my dogs and will be returning it immediately. You may have saved two dogs because of your concern. Thank you. I too will spread the word and refer people to this web page.

I am so sorry for your loss and even more so for your beloved pet/friend. I was about to buy hartz ultra guard pro for my dog (he is constant copanion and best friend) and thought to google the product. i felt it wouldnt hurt to see information and found that it was a good thing to have inquired about hartz. i will continue to spend the money at my vet for medications and checkouts. it will be worth it if not only for piece of mind. i mean what dollar amount can you put on the life of your best friend!?
the product should be taken off the market and recalled.
again so sorry for your loss. i will spread the news of product to everybody with pets and best friends that i know.

Please please please don’t be afraid to talk to a vet in your area about a payment plan. Many will allow you to pay for some services up front (exam fee, etc.) but will take payments from you over time. Very sorry you lost your pet, my heart goes out to you.

i m really sorry about ur loss peanut…But I m little WORRING About my 3 cats!! but They seem is alright!! So last May 17 2012…I took a cats in the bathtub by shampoo… they out of bathtub and towel their furs like dry for a while then ready flea & tick drop on them… My hubby and I was sleep that somehow My cat Darla start wild jump high from my bed i told her stop play around my bed let bed…she isnt listen to what i said… just her play around till next day I wake up then Darla and bella was sleep ALL DAY!!! i feeling funny about my cats only left baby is luck! so I decide I wake them up get up… LOOK food and Darla’s mouth 2 or 3 ate it that it then she back sleep again till late time…bella won’t eat till late time finally bella ate same thing… I was start worry!!! next day they is seem alright…. I REALLY HATE HARTZ AS HELL!! i never buy it again at all!!!!
