My 11 year old Golden Retriever always had flea allergies. Unfortunately I never had the money to buy the more expensive medications. I decided to give her a bath with hartz ultra flea and tick shampoo. Very BAD mistake. I had to have her put to sleep today, after nearly 300 dollars worth of vet expenses and 2 nites of sad, slow suffering. Her body slowly shut down from the poison in her system. I wish I had found this site BEFORE her bath. She was by my side for over 10 years. She was a family member. Her support got me thru many of life’s traumas. She can’t be replaced. PLEASE spread the word, as I am doing – NOT to use hartz products on your pets. Dawn dish soap kills fleas and isn’t a toxic poison that slowly drains the life from your beloved companion. I wish I had known that 2 days ago. My Sonni would still be with me.

i’m sorry to hear about your loss, especially since all i have are my two cats; no relatives.
minutes ago, i wiped some hartz shampoo on the chairs where my cats lay—but i’ll throw away almost 90 percent of the bottle tomorrow to be safe.

I am sooo sorry to hear about your Sonni, just 2 days later i lost my kitten Junior…. due to Hartz flea powder… I wish i had seen this site, before…. we HAVE to tell others and get the word out. I made a T shirt. saying Boycott Hartz, their products will harm and KILL your pets…. I wore it to WalMart today… at least 100 ppl saw it, and 5 ppl approached me. to i held an audience to explain it all…. I am going National with my campaign… media , papers, congress. you name it…Ive written to Hartz , of which they will get a letter and bill from me every week till forever…… they will never forget the name JUNIOR !!!!!!! again im so sorry, Sonni is on my list and in my prayers ! so are you . Please report this to the EPA. They are the ones who regulate this stuff due to the pesticide in it. They need to be aware of all the adverse reactions & deaths this product causes to make it possible to pull it from the market.
Here is an email you can send to people to warn them about these products.
This is the email I send out a few times a year to warn people about Hartz. Please forward it to as many people as you can think of.
OK, Yall..It’s that time again..yep..flea season. I find myself wanting to warn as many people as possible. I used to work for the Animal Emergency Clinic. If someone called & said their cat was “trembling-shaking-uncoordinated-having seizures-falling over-drooling”–The 1st question we were trained to ask was “Did you put flea treatment on them?” Why? Because if it was Hartz or Seargent’s, we were told to advise them to get that cat to the clinic ASAP!!!!! I have personally seen many cats die from this stuff. If you doubt what I’m saying, go to

& read for yourself..It’ll break your heart. It’s also very dangerous for dogs-not AS deadly, but still-don’t think it’s ok to use this stuff on them either.

I’m not crazy..honest! I just can’t believe they are still allowed to sell this stuff..If it affected people this way, they’d have pulled it from the shelves years ago!!
______________________________________________________________I’ve found out it’s regulated by the EPA. Yes, the EPA. Because it’s got pesticide in it. So any adverse reactions or deaths need to be reported to them, because if they are aware of the true impact of this product, it’s very possible it could be pulled from the market permanently. I’m fairly certain that the reason this poison is still being sold is that so few people know how & who to report these things to.

WHY HAVENT YOU CONTACTED A LAWYER…WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION…MY DOG WASNT DIAGNOSED IN TIME AND ITS ALMOST GONE THROUGH HIS SYSTEM SO THE VET WONT VOUCH FOR ME BUT…IF YOU DOG DIED DID YOU NOW CONSULT A LAWYER…
