We just heard about this!!!!

On July 30th 2008 we gave our two wonderful Border Collies a dose of Hartz Ultra Guard for dogs. Over night one dog was sick with diarrhea and within a day the second had diarrhea as well. I can’t say for sure it was caused by the Hartz product but from reading all of these posts one would sure believe it is the cause.

I intend to stick with Frontline!!!

My Angel is dying

I did what I thought was good for my baby girl,Angel, by buying HARTZ flea drops and flea collar. We gave her a bath, and put both on when she was dried.Imagine my shock today, when we took her into the vet to hear we were doing more harm than good! She is soooo anemic now because of the fleas the product was supposed to be protecting her from are attacking her more and her life is now in peril! How are they still allowed to sell this CRAP that only endangers the little lives of those that we love so much?!? I guess the moral to the story is don’t buy from the grocery store for a quick fix….go straight to your vet for solutions.I may regret my error in judgement the rest of my life if my baby doesn’t get better!

ALERT – Seargeants Gold

Last night after supper I bathed our 2 Chihuahas and applied Seargeants Gold (9-20lb) to them.  Since one is less than 9 lbs, I only put a portion of the tube on him, in fact, only a few drops.  The bigger dog received the remainder of the product.  Within 15 minutes, the smaller Chihuahua began wheezing, coughing, making spasdic movements, digging incessantly, and gagging.  His left eye was swollen and would barely open, and he kept rubbing it.  I panicked and immediately washed him, since it appeared to me that he was obviously having a reaction to the flea drops.  I decided to keep a close eye on him because it looked like we were going to be headed to the vet.  Suddenly from the other room, I hear wheezing, coughing and gagging.  The bigger Chihuahua was beginning to show the same symptoms, albeit his were much milder.  I left the product on him since he wasn’t “worsening” (big mistake).  Both dogs sleep with me, and sometime through the night the chemical got onto my face.  I woke up at about 2 in the morning and my lips were swollen.  I was very thirsty and wondering what in the world was going on.  I got up and grabbed a drink of water and what a shock I got.  As soon as the water hit my tongue it was like a thousand pins and needles stinging it.  I had a terrible taste in my mouth too.  It was clear to me that the chemical had gotten on me and was affecting me.  I rinsed and rinsed until the taste came out, and the pins/needles began to lessen.  Exhausted and knowing I had to be at work in a couple of hours, I went back to sleep.  This morning I have woke up with further symptoms.  The swelling has gone down on my lips, although the top lip still has a numb feeling.  My tongue is back to normal.  I have a strange “cold” feeling running from the right side of my mouth up my cheek and encompassing my right eye.  The closer to the eye, the more the skin feels like a shot of “novacaine” wearing off from the dentist.  My right eyelid is numb.  As for the dogs, both are OK now, the smaller one is sleeping a lot, but no more wheezing, etc.  The bigger one seems almost normal, just very clingy like he’s not feeling good.  Now, I know that it is always difficult de-fleaing small dogs for the sheer fact that they weigh so little. For this reason I always proceed with caution.  I weigh 150lbs and had a minute amount touch my face and look at the effects!  This is ludicrous!  What kind of effects were my dogs feeling that they couldn’t express?  What effect would this have on a small child sleeping with their dog?!  This product is dangerous to animals and humans.  It definitely should be removed from the market.

Hart(z)-less Bastards

It’s one o’clock in the morning and i’ve just gotten back from the vets. But First, some background info.

Earlier this morning, i found a cat wandering around in the middle of the road towards oncoming traffic. I moved it out of the road, but it followed me back to my car. I tried the houses around where i found it, but they’d never seen it before, so we brought it home, bought it some food, and later, got it some Hartz flea drops, so as to prevent our dog from catching them. Within hours, the poor thing began to freak out, so we took it to the vets. It vomited twice before we got there, and while we were waiting for the doctor, it had a seizure so violent, it almost fell off the table in the exam room. When they took it away to be checked out, we were told that it had had another seizure during its examination.

We could have saved that poor cat, but thanks to a few corrupt businessmen forcing their god-forsaken “product” on unsuspecting consumers, we lost a cat we barely had time to know.

I used Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Drops for Dogs….

I just used Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Drops on my dog 3 days ago and I haven’t noticed any problems with him, but I am afraid that he may develop something from the use of this product. I just happened upon this site because I typed in flea drops looking for information about Advantage Flea Drops. I had NO idea that Hartz was such an awful product until I read some of the stories. Now I’m afraid that something could happen to him because I put the drops on him. It has been three days and there have been no reactions, but I’m not sure how long it takes for reactions to show up? If anyone has any ideas how long it would take for a reaction to occur, please let me know. Thank you.

This will be the last time I ever use a product made by Hartz!

Two weeks ago my elderly mom and step dad had 5 wonderful, healthy cats who they considered their “family” and called them the “kids”.  They ended up with fleas, and someone bought them the flea collars and some Hartz spray for cats.  I live 500 miles away, or would have told them NEVER to put any HARTZ on their pets.  Their cats started to get ill and they do not drive and could not find anyone to get them to the vet.  Four died in 2 1/2 days, and I drove down and got the last one to an emergency hospital and they said the poor thing would have been dead by morning.  The vets at the hosptial TOLD me to sue Hartz.  They gave me back the product and said they encourage everyone to sue HARTZ every time this happens.  My parents are devasted and I am going to do all I can to let other people know how horrible these products are.  Even if they reimburse the $900 for the cat that survived and the $1064 for the cremations, it will never bring back these wonderful animals. Some man on the phone today wanted to know if I wanted the money back for the product!!!   Sick………………………………………………………….
