Putting together lawsuit. Victims please contact me.

You have read my other entries I am sure…. Hartz is denying receiving any bloodwork from me saying it is their product. I am getting things together to sue them so if you have any stories… let me know I will add it to my claim. Thank you

  1. I have just lost my labradoodle Raven due to the effects of a Hartz Mountain flea and Tick fomula. My vet told to put a drop of it between her shoulders. Within minutes the dog was having seizures and drooling. The vet told me to wash it off with Dawn detergent. I rushed Raven to the Vets but within hours my wonderful dog died of kidney failure. The people at Hartz Mountain treated me with utter callousness and contempt. They denied that this had ever happened to an animal before and asked me to ship my dogs body to them for autopsy. Now my dog is dead and I have a vet bill of nearly 2000 dollars.

  2. I put the sargents silver on my 10# dog and within a few hours he was drooling awful and twitching and acting strange. I gave hm a bath and he was still twitching ..took him to the vet and they say he seems ok now but that this OTC flea stuff is HORRIBLE and should be taken off the market. I don’t understand how this product is still on the shelves.

  3. DIDNT I JUST READ THAT YOU WERE ENJOINING OTHERS IN A lAWSUIT AGAINST COMPANIES THAT SELL PET STUFF THAT HAS USED AND FOUND TO CAUSE ADVERSE EFFECTS ON THE PETS…..JUST WONDERING ABOUT THAT INFO….MINI-PINCH CHIHUAHUA AND CAT OWNER CHECKING ON WHAT TO USE FOR FLEAS…SAM ORTIZ DETROIT MI 48209

  4. OKAY, Let me tell you a AWFUL thing. Cuejoe, my chihuahua thinks he is recarnated and he lets you know when he’s itchy, itchy. SO, From day 1 I was using Sargents flea shampoo and I couldnt understand WHY right after a bath he would itcy itchy the bottle said last up to 10 days. DID NOT HELP!! I have tried every brand there is out there, From Shampoo, spray.powder, collars ect. AND PEOPLE the only thing to do is spray your yard and pet quarters and then ONLY then use ZEMA DOG SHAMPOO You got to get some ears plugs and the reason for this is because on top of fleas they could give your babies a ear infection NOW THAT IS WHOLE LOTs of money. BUT Zema is at Lowes,True Vsule. NO STORE CARRIES IT. OH, as for K-9 advange NO GOOD REMEMBER THE EARS

We lost our most adorable dog, “CHEETO” this past Friday, June 27, 2008 to what we strongly know to believe, the Hartz 3 in 1 Reflecting Control Collar for Dogs. (UPC 3270004183)purchased at our local K-Mart store. Cheeto shared in all the
symptoms such as (green) vomiting, weakness, labored breathing and hair loss in bunches, just to name some of the symptoms. These symptoms all started after the collar was
placed around his neck. He was always a healthy dog, that is
until he was introduced to this poisonous collar which ultimately took his innocent life right before our eyes.
When I contacted the Hartz Company, they immediately took steps to help us and did not once deny that the collar was the instigator of the symptoms. I truly expected them to defend their product to be safe, but they did not argue with me regarding my suspicions of “Cheeto” being poisoned by their collar. They cooperated with me and were willing to
work with our vet to get “Cheeto” the help he so desperately needed. The problem with that is that the product they are manufacturing is so deadly that “Cheeto” passed away within
minutes of calling the vet to make the antidote arrangements. These items are ultimately the “deadliest” of products and the symptoms come on so fast that they is no time to save them even once you know what you are dealing with and they certainly have NO business being on shelves in ANY stores to be sold to consumers to use on any living creatures.
The product is so unfit that the label actually states
“HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS” What are they for, skunks, racoons, badgers, ???????????????? I believe that dogs and cats qualify as domestic animals and we the people as humans, so why the hell is the product(s) even allowed to be manufactured and distributed to be sold??????
Anyway, our precious “CHEETO” is forever gone and now the tears are all we have. We are left to live on this earth without him knowing that we placed the poison around his neck that ultimately took him to his “early” grave leaving
3 little boys behind to now resort to sitting next to his grave to talk to him and wish that they could pet him, hug him, walk him, run with him and just plain love him unconditionally, while their parents feel the
guilt of being the ones who actually placed the product of poison around the best friend and loyal companion they ever had. He was a member of our family. He was the foundation of our happiness and our world evolved around coming home to him every night to his wagging tail and unconditional love. Our family is now “BROKEN” all in thanks to HARTZ!!
At the very least, the Hartz products should be recalled from all shelves until they can prove their products to be safe. If they cannot place their products on the shelves without a warning of “hazardous to humans and domestic animals” then their products have absolutely no business being manufactured, it is no good for any living thing. Until they can develop and create a safe product to sell, they shouldn’t be on the market! Broken-hearted in North Dakota 701.240.7752

  6. Sergeant’s Gold Flea and Tick Shampoo killed my dog. We used the shampoo on him sometime around 6/08/08 and he was fine until the following Saturday. Saturday night I came home and found my little Chihuahua Tator laying in his kennel in a ball not responding and just twitching all over the place. I gave him a luke warm bath without shampoo and just held him. His paws were bright red and he couldn’t even stand. I called the vet the following morning which was Father’s Day. My Vet was out of town so they had to call in someone else. We made the emergency visit and were asked several questions. She asked if I had used any pesticides outside or in and I told her no. Finally I remembered using Sergeant’s Gold Flea and Tick shampoo on him. I explained to her that we had used it on him before and she said that doesn’t matter. His body just continued to absorb it. She gave him a steriod shot and hooked him up to an I.V. after a few hours she let me bring him home and told me to follow up with my vet who would be home the following day. The next day Tator still wasn’t better. The vet ran test and boarded him for the day so that I could go to work. She gave us food and more medicine for him. We had a medicine to control his twitching, help him to not vomit, and one to help him eat. I had to syringe feed him special food along with water. He still wasn’t responding. I help him 24/7 and lost three nights sleep scared to death he would die and I wouldn’t be there for him. For everday that week I took him to the vet and did the normal routine. Tuesday when I dropped him off my vet informed me that he was blind because the toxins were starting to enter his brain giving him neurological damage. I cried. She also said that he was twitching because of the same thing. Tuesday night was the worse. He was laying in my lap wrapped up in a warm towel and would not eat. He layed on his side and cried. It was a cry I will never forget. I called the vet at about midnight and she said it doesn’t sound good. I explained to her that his tounge was hanging out of his mouth and that his gums were white and that they would go in and out from pink to white a lot. She told me if he was still twitching and whining he was alive. I brought him in as soon as the vet opened the next morning. We were about a mile away when all of a sudden he just stopped twitching. I cried and told him to hang on we were almost there. I dropped him off and immediatly handed him over without saying goodbye or anything. I called three times that day to check on his status. I then called the Sergeant’s hotline and talked to some jackass who told me to have my vet call back with the case # and that their medical team would tell my Vet how to help him. I went to the bank to get the money to pay off the vet for the day when I got the call. My 2 lbs 5 oz. little boy had passed. It was so devistating. I called Sergeant’s again to inform them. They said they would send me a packet that I needed to fill out to get the “investigation” underway. I recieved the packet later that week along with a pre-printed sympathy letter with an original signature on it. I was pissed. It makes me wonder how many of those they have printed a year. I am still working with the company now to settle this and have informed them that I will take legal action if need be. I am curious as to what they are going to do. I told them I am not worried about the money but more about spreading the word of this dangerous product. I can’t believe that Wal*Mart would sell me something like that. As for everyone on here we are all trusting consumers of Wal*Mart that their products would not be harmful to anyone. The reason Sergeant’s is getting away with this is because not every dog reacts to it which is what the consider an allergic reaction when one does. This was not just an allergic reaction this was fatal and I would recommend this product to noone. Please do not put your pet through this. Even if you use it and they act fine, they aren’t. Inside it is just slowly absorbing into their bodies and killing them. If anyone has had experience with dealing with Sergeant’s or even Hartz please contact me by repling to this message. I have not a clue what to do next and partially blame myself for trusting Wal*Mart and for ever even using this product on my 10 month old little boy.

  7. I used Hartz Guard house spray for fleas and ticks. It is me that got all the signs and symptoms of everyone’s pet on this web site. I had seizures and mini strokes. I am 56 years old and followed the directions on the bottle. I have been to a neurologist who said I had been poisoned by the Hartz product as did the head MD at the poison controll center in Jacksonvill(FL). It has been almost one week and I am still having weakness and tremors. I have had numourus blood tests and other neuro tests. Now I need a lawyer who Isn’t in Hartz pocket. Help is needed as I am a grandmother and a mom to 3 adult kids. I don’t want to shake all the rest of my life!
Anyone may email me with help or suggestions,[email protected]

  8. I just lost my dog yesterday. an 11 1/2 year old collie/spaniel who was in good health untill we started using Hartz Flea Spray on him. He was acting strange and we had set up an appointment to take him to the vet after work, when we came home from work, he was dead. We picked him up and he was limp in our arms with no heart beat, a mucous discharge and a pile of dog doody right next to him.

I have already posted my story here, which was saved but not showing yet and count me in on your list to go after Hartz. And by no means use these OTC products on your animal.

  9. @ doglover. That’s because you can’t just ‘save’ your story submission. You need to click the ‘publish’ button. If you click ‘save’ that only saves it as a draft and I won’t publish it because I’m not sure if a draft is ready to be published.

  10. HEY THERE EVERYONE…PLEASE READ THIS…THIS IS LINDSEY COLBARY AND NO I AM NOT FORWARDING YOU A JUNK EMAIL…THIS IS FOR ALL THE ANIMAL LOVERS IN MY LIFE AND IN YOUR LIFE…IF THIS EMAIL CAN SAVE EVEN ONE OF OUR FURY FRIENDS I HAVE DONE WHAT I AM SETTING OUT TO DO…HERE IS MY STORY…SO ON SEPT 5 2008 JUST YESTERDAY I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE JUST MAYBE MY KITTY HAD SOME FLEAS SO I DECIDED TO TAKE THE ADVICE OF THE MAN FROM WAL MART AND BUY HARTZ CONTROL ONE STOP TREATMENT…SO I COME HOME AND SETTLE IN FOR THE NIGHT AND TREAT BOTH MY GIRLS RILEY AND BELLA…NOT LONG AFTER I DO THIS I START TO NOTICE THAT BELLA IS LICKING HER BACK, WHICH IS WHERE THE TREATMENT WAS APPLIED…WITH IN MINUTES NOW SHE IS PAWING AT HER MOUTH, RUBBING HER FACE ON THE FLOOR. SO I KEEP AN EYE ON HER FOR THE NEXT FEW MINUTES AND IT IS GETTING WORST…NOW SHE IS RUNNING LOW TO THE GROUND, THROWING HERSELF ON THE FLOOR AND STILL PAWING AT HER FACE. SO I GET THE PACKAGING OUT OF THE KITCHEN TO READ IT AND IT STATES TO KEEP IT OUT TO THE PETS MOUTH, EYES, FACE AND GENITALS….WELL AS SOON AS I READ THAT I KNEW THAT BELLA HAD LICKED HER FUR…SO I TAKE HER UPSTAIRS, LOCK US IN THE BATHROOM AND SOAK THE SPOT WITH WATER AND WASH HER WITH CAT SHAMPOO….SO I AM FEELING GOOD NOW THINKING THAT SHE IS GOING TO BE OK…WELL THIS IS NOT THE CASE….WE COME BACK DOWNSTAIRS AND NOW SHE IS TWITCHING AND JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE….SHE IS VERY AGITATED…FOAMING AT THE MOUTH….HOLY SHIT WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO MY KITTY….SO AT 1130PM I PUT HER IN HER CAGE AND TAKE OF THE EMERGENCY VET ON ADELAIDE ST IN LONDON (THANK GOD FOR THESE PEOPLE)….AT THIS POINT NOW BELLA IS PANTING AND BREATHING FUNNY…I AM SURE MY CAT IS GOING TO DIE….SO WE GET THERE AND AFTER TELLING THEM THE SITUATION THEY TAKE HER IN AND CHECK HER OUT…THEY BATH HER AGAIN AND GIVE HER A CATHETER WITH METHOCARBAMOL. 11. I used Hartz Ultra Guard Flea & Tick Conditioning Shampoo for Cats that I bought at PETCO. I shampooed my cat with it, then I rinsed her with Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap which is a mild organic soap safe for animals. That was Aug 8, 08. I think some trace of Hartz Shampoo was still on her, she was scratching herself constantly. Now one month later, on Sep 8, 08, she has scratched her skins off of her neck area, and has bunch of serious skin rashes around her neck and inside her ears. She is still scratching like crazy. I didn’t realize the cause might be Hartz shampoo until I found this website yesterday. Class action lawsuit is a must.

  12. I just put this stuff on my less than a year old shih tzu – she was a gift to us after our 3 year old died in Feb. of this year…so she is very precious to all of us now as they share the same birthdate. I put some Sargent’s flea and tick drops, sort of more gel like , between her shoulder blades yesterday and then we were gone for the day and she was in the car by herself for a while – ina parking ramp. It was very cool out here in MN. She loves to wait for us with her bed in the car. When we got back she has been just wild and constantly kicking her back legs and trying to scratch where I put the fluid. My husband bathed her 3 times during the night, and gave her a little bit of benadryl. It did not seem to help. Her skin does not look rashy or extra pink any more..but she cries and whines and continues to scratch at herself and it has been over 24 hours now.
Why has this informaiton not be made available to the public? I came onto your site to see if this flea/tick stuff could be the culprit in her strange behavior. She is eating and drinking OK with out diarrhea, and seems somewhat better after 36 hours. Please let me know how to proceed..
    Sincerely, Tina Wagner ‘Emmie’s owner’

  13. Fortunately, my experience only resulted in loss of fur, 50-cent piece sized scabs and lots of discomfort for the entire family, but I would love to have them refund the price of the 3-pack product I bought – just to prove a point.

  14. I’m so sorry for what all of you are going thru, have gone thru, and your losses.

Awhile ago I was going crazy w/my 2 cats and fleas. Did everything incl an exterminator.

THIS IS WHAT WORKS!!: 20 Mule Team Borax. You get it in any supermarket in the laundry soap area.

If you don’t believe me, or want to know more, Google to search for a site that will give you the info (I don’t have this info at present).

So much for all my expenses! The Borax took care of the problem & no fleas since. I live in Fla.

  15. I used that sergants gold on my chihuahua last night and she started foaming at the mouth and making coughing sounds like she had something stuck in her throat, i gave her a bath last night to get it off then i ia gve her too more today and she is not foaming at the mouth but she has suffered some kind of damage to her brain i think she wont come and when you call her and she is just all over the place weird, i dont know if she is going to make it but if even if she does i dont know what kind of life she is gunna have. Thanks Walmart for carrying a product that is greatly harmful to animals.

  16. My dog is dying right not from the product. I lost a cat 4 weeks ago and my other cat is still having seizers. I don’t really know what to do?

  17. I had used this product on my dog about 3 weeks ago. He started having seizures and drooling. Would this been from the hartz product?

  18. I used the Hartz flea and Tick product on my 4month old CHi and she is foaming at the mouth, refusing to eat, has diarreha and vomiting. I was thnking she may have rabie or something, but it seem it may be this product that is causing her to have foaming episode. Unable to get to a vet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  19. We have a six month old Golden Retriever, and we had been using Hartz flea and tick control and the Hartz jasmine puppy shampoo on him. We gave him a bath on Sunday night and put the tick formula on him Monday and on Tuesday morning we woke up to him having a siezure. We took him to the vet and were told it was probably the Hartz products. I honestly thought there was something wrong with the dog and he was going to die. We took him to a great low cost place called Maverick Animal Clinic in Orange Park Florida. Spread the word on not using this product, I think I am going to go into tons of stores and put stick it notes on the products saying do not buy!!!!!!! How can we fix this so noone else and thier pets have to suffer.

  20. Hi I would like to join your crusade.

  21. Just came back from he vet where we had to euthanize our previuously spry, healthy, 5 year old, beloved Sheltie(Rhiley.) On 7/12 I made the mistake of buying Hartz’s Ultraguard Flea & Tick Drops for both our 25 lb. Sheltie and our 120lb Golden retriever. Applied the appropriate dose as directed to both dogs. (16-31 lb for Sheltie) > 60 for the Golden) By the next day both dogs were vommiting profusely throughout the day. The retriever (Sam) recovered after about 2 days, Rhiley did not, kept vomiting, would not eat or drink. Took him to vet on 7/15, they gave him IV fluids and meds for the vommiting. We brought him home, but he still would not eat or drink and was very lethargic. Took him back to the vet on 7/17. They said he had kidney failure and started treatment. They had him for a week, treating him with fluids, diuretics, antibiotics,a drug to stimulate the kidneys etc. Finally Saturday 7/25 he started seizing and it was clear he was not going to recover. We had to put him down, and are both heartbroken and angry. I’m convinced it was the Hartz product.
